The SAT is a standardized test that is 3 hours and 50 minutes long and is used to measure a student's academic abilities. It consists of 4 mandatory sections: Math (one section with a calculator and one without), Reading, and Writing and Language. There is an optional essay section as well. Colleges use the results from this test to help them determine who will be admitted into their programs.

Whether you're just starting out or you've been preparing for a while, I can help you raise your scores significantly. Together we will boost your verbal reasoning skills, tackle core math concepts, enhance your reading comprehension abilities, and increase your vocabulary.

The work we do together during our lessons is only part of the process.  To ensure that you get the best preparation possible, I will have you apply the knowledge you've learned to homework, drills, and full-length practice tests.

The SAT is a very predictable test, so by becoming familiar with the ins and outs of the test itself, we can ensure that you feel confident on the day of the exam. The less surprises you encounter, the less anxiety you'll feel and the better you'll do.

The SAT does not take any points off if you get an answer wrong, so make sure not to leave any questions unanswered. Each section has a scoring range of 200 to 800 points, which combine for a 1600-point total. The essay is broken up into three categories-- Reading, Analysis, and Writing-- each of which is scored from 2 to 8, for a combined possible total of 24.

If after the test you want to cancel your scores, you can ask the test supervisor for a "Request to Cancel Test Scores" form. You will have a few days to mull over your decision, but your completed form must be submitted no later than the Thursday after the test in order for the cancellation to be processed.
